Michael Merkel

Regional Operations Manager
2014 – Present

Michael Merkel first joined NCI as a Plant Manager overseeing our Jackson, Mississippi facility in 2014. In just a few short years, he’s assumed responsibility for two additional plants in Georgia and Ohio, and assumed a new title as well—Regional Operations Manager. Though he spends much of his time on the road travelling between the locations he manages, Michael always feels at home at NCI.

Michael has demonstrated a natural ability to lead and has been relentlessly dedicated to developing his professional skillset, which has enabled him to achieve incredible success within the organization. He’s learned a lot as his career has advanced, and he tries to impart some of that wisdom to each of the new employees he hires. Read his story below:

Career Milestones:

  • I knew that NCI was looking for someone with coil coating experience to come in and manage one of their coil coating facilities. I was already managing a plant but was not happy with the employer that I was with at that time.
  • I wanted to better myself. I wanted to get into a company where my skills would help me be successful within the company.
  • Plant Manager

I started off as a Plant Manager at the Jackson, Mississippi facility. Within the first year and four months that I was with the company, I was asked to take over another facility, which was the Georgia plant.
  • Regional Operations Manager

So for the first two and a half years, I was running two facilities. I took over my third plant as of December, 2016 and was moved into a Regional Operations Manager role.
  • I’m currently going down the path where I’ll be gaining a fourth plant here in the near future.
“I talk to a lot of the employees that we hire and try to communicate what a great company this is to work for. You’ve got great benefits. Upper management goes above and beyond to ensure that employees are treated well. There’s nothing at all bad that I could say about the company. In the three years that I’ve been here, I’ve been treated great.”
